Video: Juventus swarm David after breaking 16-game Serie A drought
The Juventus squad gave Jonathan David a massive show of support after netting his first Serie A goal in 16 games during Tuesday evening’s match away against Sassuolo.
Juventus empty the dugout to celebrate with David
An unfortunate Tarik Muharemovic own-goal handed Juventus a half-time lead. The Bianconeri second came midway through the second half: Weston McKennie and David combining very well to send Fabio Miretti on his way into the area one-on-one.
Just a few moments later, the Canadian made it three with a well-taken individual effort after a big slip-up at the back from Jay Idzes.
This was David’s first goal in Serie A since the opening weekend of the 2025-26 season. He had gone 16 league appearances without a goal before Tuesday night.
And, after coming under fire following a particularly poor display against Lecce over the weekend, a game which included a failed Panenka penalty attempt, this was a particularly good moment for David to respond.
In a big show of support, all of Juve’s outfield players rushed over to celebrate with David, as did the majority of the substitutes’ bench. Even head coach Luciano Spalletti got involved at the corner flag.
