Pisa 0-3 Como – Second half goals seal win as Butez shows penalty credentials

0 14

Como secured a 3-0 away victory over Pisa in a match defined by missed chances and a dramatic late turning point at the Arena Garibaldi.

The opening half was evenly contested, with both sides creating opportunities without finding a breakthrough.

Pisa were the more direct threat, coming closest through Matteo Tramoni and M’Bala Nzola, while Como tested Adrian Šemper via Nico Paz and Kühn.

Jean Butez was also called into action early, denying Simone Canestrelli and later producing sharp saves to keep the contest level at the break.

Como turn on the style in the second half to beat Pisa

Pisa began the second half strongly and thought the momentum was shifting when Butez twice denied Gabriele Piccinini from close range. However, Como weathered the pressure and struck decisively on the counter.

The breakthrough arrived in the 68th minute when Maximo Perrone stepped onto a loose ball outside the area and drove a low effort into the centre of the net to give Como the lead.

Eight minutes later, the visitors doubled their advantage in ruthless fashion as Anastasios Douvikas latched onto a perfectly weighted through ball, raced clear and finished calmly into the bottom corner.

Pisa were handed a lifeline late on when they were awarded a penalty for a foul inside the box from Caqueret. But Nzola’s poor spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Butez, diving to his left to preserve Como’s clean sheet and effectively end the contest.

Despite Pisa’s late pressure, Como’s clinical finishing and goalkeeping proved decisive. The result underlined the visitors’ efficiency, while Pisa were left to rue a missed penalty and a lack of composure in key moments.

Como wrapped up the game in stoppage time when Douvikas doubled his tally from the penalty spot, giving Cesc Fabregas’ side an impressive three points in Pisa.
