FA Cup-winning manager responds to Man United rumours for the first time

0 13

Manchester United find themselves back at square one once again, with the head coach position wide open following the abrupt sacking of Ruben Amorim.

Among the leading names being discussed is Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, who has quietly emerged as a serious contender for the Old Trafford job ahead of the 2026–27 season.

Glasner was quizzed about the vacant position at United in his recent press conference.

Clearly keen to shut down the noise, he responded bluntly (via BBC Sport): “I am Crystal Palace manager and it makes no sense for you to ask me any more questions about it.”

Glasner is out of contract in the summer, making him a tempting option for the Red Devils.

INEOS took a bold gamble when they appointed Amorim in November 2024, fully committing to the 3-4-3 system that had brought him success in Portugal.

Glasner operates with the same tactical framework at Selhurst Park and, crucially, has delivered results that have far exceeded expectations.

His greatest achievement came last May, when he guided Crystal Palace to their first-ever major trophy by lifting the FA Cup.

The 51-year-old took charge of the Eagles in February 2024 following a successful two-year spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, bringing instant structure and identity.

In 93 matches at the helm, Glasner has overseen 43 victories while suffering just 25 defeats, an impressive return given Palace’s resources.

Losing him would represent a devastating blow for the South London club, especially with captain Marc Guehi already expected to depart for Manchester City.

Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta have also attracted interest from several top clubs.
