Owen Hargreaves wants 'special talent' to make shocking Man Utd return after Amorim sack

0 15

Manchester United sent shockwaves through the football world earlier this morning by sacking Ruben Amorim in a dramatic and unexpected move.

In the aftermath, former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has urged the club to welcome Marcus Rashford back to Old Trafford and restore him as the face of the team.

He said (via Football on TNT Sports): “I hope that Marcus comes back because he’s a special player.

“I don’t know what happened between Marcus and Ruben, but I don’t think there’s any denying his talent.

“I don’t think Marcus should’ve been in a position where he shouldered all the weight for everything.

“I think Marcus is a super talent and the club could use him.”

Rashford joined Barcelona on loan in the summer of 2025 after falling out of favour under Amorim.

The Spanish giants hold an option to make the move permanent for £26 million next summer.

The England international has impressed in La Liga, registering seven goals and 11 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.

Rashford made his debut for the Red Devils in 2016 and went on to make over 400 appearances.

During that time, he has scored 138 goals and provided 78 assists in all competitions.

Rashford is now 28 and earns a substantial wage at Old Trafford.

A reunion on those terms feels financially unrealistic given the club’s current direction.

While Rashford would undoubtedly inject quality and experience into this United side, a clean break may serve both parties better.

For the club and the player alike, a permanent parting appears the most sensible path forward as United look to reset and rebuild.
