Jaylen Brown Makes Celtics History With 50-Point Explosion Vs. Clippers
There was no stopping Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics’ offense on Saturday night.
After being snubbed for Eastern Conference Player of the Month for December, Brown responded with one of the best games of his career and in Celtics history.
Brown erupted for 50 points, matching his career high from 2022 and leading Boston to a 146-115 rout of the Los Angeles Clippers at Intuit Dome. He continued to bolster his MVP case, going 18 of 26 from the floor with five assists, three rebounds and a plus 21.
The 29-year-old veteran also added his name to the Celtics record books, joining Jayson Tatum and Larry Bird as the only players in franchise history with multiple 50-point games. He also became just the fourth player in team history with at least 15 40-point games, joining Tatum, Bird and Paul Pierce.
Brown increased his scoring average this year to 30.1 points per game, matching Tatum’s franchise record for the moment. He received “MVP” chants from the crowd as he exited the game in the fourth quarter.
This was Brown’s fourth game with at least 40 points this season. He led Boston to its third straight win, capping off the team’s 4-1 road trip in style.
After playing some of the best basketball of his career in December, Brown has kept it up in January so far. He’ll look to stay hot on Monday when the Celtics host the Chicago Bulls in their first home game since Dec. 22.
