Jaylen Brown Snubbed, Sees Rival Win Major NBA Award
Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown earned the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award twice in December.
The four-time All-Star was snubbed on Friday though, failing to capture the Eastern Conference Player of the Month honor for December.
The NBA announced on Friday that New York Knicks star guard Jalen Brunson won the award.
Celtics beat writer John Karalis noted on Bluesky that Brown actually had slightly better numbers than his rival in December.
“Not that the award means much, but Brown had better numbers during a 9-3 month. 31.7 ppg, 6.5 reb, 5.4 ast, 53.8% fg, 42.6% from 3,” Karalis posted on Friday.
Brunson came into the month on a high note, earning the Player of the Week hardware on Nov. 30, while also securing the honor on Dec. 21.
Amid a historic month of 30-point efforts, Brown was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Dec. 7 and Dec. 28.
The former third overall pick has six career Eastern Conference Player of the Week recognitions yet has never won the Player of the Month honor.
If Brown’s performance in December 2025 didn’t result in the honor, he may never win it.
