Leeds United vs Man United: Match preview, head-to-head, team news, prediction

0 1

Manchester United take a trip to West Yorkshire to take on rivals Leeds United in the Premier League at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

United were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford last time out, missing out on the opportunity to climb into the top four.

Leeds, meanwhile, held on to secure a goalless draw against defending champions Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday.

Match preview

United head into this fixture struggling with consistency, having won just two out of their last six league games.

However, United have been brilliant on the road recently, winning two of their last three matches, and they must build on that ahead of the trip to Leeds.

The Red Devils are just three points off fourth-placed Liverpool and would move ahead of the Reds, who will face Fulham later on Sunday, with a victory here.

Leeds are enjoying a resurgence in form as they are yet to lose any of their last six league games and are now seven points clear of the relegation zone.

The Whites have picked up seven points from a possible nine in their last three home games, and with the result they registered at Anfield, they will be confident of securing a positive result in this fixture.

Head-to-head

Both sides have met 30 times in the Premier League era, with Man United winning 17, drawing nine and losing four.

Team news

United remain without Amad Diallo, Noussair Mazraoui and Bryan Mbeumo due to involvement at AFCON.

Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire and Mason Mount are unavailable due to injuries.

The hosts will miss the services of captain Ethan Ampadu due to suspension, while Daniel James, Sean Longstaff and Joe Rodon are sidelined.

Manager Daniel Farke is hopeful of having the duo of Sebastian Bornauw and Ilia Gruev back.

Prediction

Leeds are in better form, and with the United squad stretched with injuries and absences, we expect Daniel Farke’s side to triumph 2-1 in this fixture.
