Bay beat Caernarfon in big top five clash

GOALS from Nathan Peate and Jamie Cumming gave the Seagulls a 2-1 Christmas win over Caernarfon Town to put them level on points with the Coffis in the top five of the JD Cymru Premier table in front of a crowd of 1,333 at Llandudno’s Go Goodwins Stadium.

Caernarfon pulled a goal back with a penalty for handball, but the Bay held on for three massive points.

Keeper Alex Brown also played a big part in the victory with some key saves, including one in the opening five minutes to prevent Caernarfon taking an early lead which could have led to a different result.

Instead it was the Bay who went ahead on 16 minutes when Nathan Peate scored from a Louis Robles cross and after Bay had earlier hit the post in a goalmouth scramble.

Nathan got the ball in the net again just before half-time, but the goal was disallowed for a foul in the build up, and he had another effort well saved by Caernarfon keeper Connor Roberts.

In the second half Josh Lock rattled the Bay crossbar as Caernarfon sought an equaliser and Alex Brown made another big save when the home side looked to be in on goal.

Yet it was Bay who went 2-0 up on 64 minutes with a great strike from outside the area by Jamie Cumming, following a good run by Aeron Edwards, for his fourth goal of the season.

Caernarfon set up a nervy finish when Sion Bradley scored from a penalty awarded for handball and it needed another big save by Alex Brown to prevent a shot from Josh Lock putting the home side level.
