Mason's Magnificent design is Queen's Park Christmas card winner with Howden
CHRISTMAS SPIRIT is alive and well in Mount Florida – boosted by the festive window display from Queen’s Park partners Howden.
Our near neighbours on the corner of Letherby Drive and Carmunnock Road have displayed all the entries for our annual Christmas card competition, showcasing the local artistic talent from Spiders fans and school pupils on the spouthside and beyond.
There’s been Scott McTominay, Charlie Fox, Santa in a Spiders strip as well as plenty of Irn-Bru, Highland Cattle and even the Duke of Wellington.
Sean Crighton and Jim Duffy were again amazed by the standard of creativity amongst the support and, along with competition sponsors Howden a winner has been chosen from a very tough selection process.
And the winner didn’t have far to travel top pick up his prize – Mason Mobed is in P1 at Mount Florida Primary and his colourful creation will be used by Howden and Queen’s Park for festive greetings next year.
He was joined by class teacher Angela Taylor and head teacher Caroline Gibson to pick up his prize at Howden, the local insurance company’s southside office.
As well as seeing his design come to life as Christmas cards next year, Mason also received a meal voucher for his family and a gift card for city centre toy shop Hamley’s. His teacher also landed a Jo Malone gift bag from the competition sponsors.
June Lynch from Howden said: “It’s been lovely to see so many children take part and all at Howden Insurance are once again proud to support Queen’s Park in the annual Christmas card competition.
“We’ve again been delighted to decorate our windows with all the festive drawings – we really do have a unique Christmas decoration every year.
“Well done to Mason, it was lovely to meet him and we hope he enjoys his prizes.”
Queen’s Park head coach Sean Crighton added: “The window display is amazing and there are so many fantastic artworks on show, I couldn’t believe it when I arrived at The city Stadium.
“Congratulations to Mason and all the entrants for a fantastic competition and I hope everyone has a great time with family over the festive season.”
Queen’s Park head of commercial Kieran Koszary added: “Once again we have been overwhelmed by the response to our competition, which re-enforces the community engagement here in the southside.
“Thank you to Howden for once again sponsoring the competition and we are delighted to look out from The city Stadium and see such a fantastic festive display from our neighbours.
“Well done to all the entrants and school pupils and we hope to see you at a match soon.”
