Jaylen Brown Makes Celtics History With Monster Game Vs. Pacers

On Monday night, the Boston Celtics surprisingly found themselves in big trouble against the Indiana Pacers.

Despite facing one of the NBA’s worst teams at home, the Celtics got off to a terrible start, falling behind by 20 points in the third quarter. Joe Mazzulla removed his starters from the game to send a message, and it worked.

Jaylen Brown took over during the fourth quarter, scoring more points by himself (14) than the entire Pacers team (13). It capped off another stellar performance for Brown, who finished with 31 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in Boston’s 103-95 victory.

Brown has scored at least 30 points in seven straight games, joining Larry Bird and Paul Pierce as the only players in Celtics history to do so.

Brown has at least 30 points in 11 of his last 12 games. His 17 30-point games are the second-most in the NBA this season, behind only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

His 29.4 points per game are a career high. It’s also on pace to be the third-highest mark in franchise history, trailing only Jayson Tatum and Bird.

Brown has been unstoppable lately, stepping up in Tatum’s absence. He leads the NBA in 2-point shot attempts per game but still has the second-highest field goal percentage of his career, remaining efficient despite his increased shot volume.

The former NBA Finals MVP will look to extend his historic streak on Friday when Boston kicks off a five-game road trip in Indiana.
