Alexander Isak’s awful luck continues as he goes off injured straight after scoring for Liverpool vs Spurs
Liverpool striker Alexander Isak finally scored the kind of goal in a big game that the club were expecting when they signed him in the summer, only to immediately have to go off injured.
Isak did well to angle his run and finish with real quality on his left foot, but it was instantly clear that he hurt himself in doing so.
Watch below as Isak scored the kind of goal that made him such a hit at former club Newcastle United, and which led to him becoming Liverpool’s record signing this summer…

Unfortunately, it’s not been Isak’s year so far at Liverpool, as he’s struggled for both fitness and form since sealing his big move.
So, in a moment to sum up his time at Anfield so far, the 26-year-old had to be taken off as the injury was too bad for him to continue against Tottenham.
Hugo Ekitike shows Liverpool can cope without Alexander Isak
Luckily for Liverpool, they also signed another striker this summer in the form of Hugo Ekitike, with the young Frenchman proving superb since joining from Eintracht Frankfurt.
So even with Isak out, there shouldn’t be too much concern up front for Arne Slot, as Ekitike has been on fire in front of goal this season and headed in Liverpool’s second in this game.
Isak made it 1-0 in the 56th minute, and see below for Ekitike’s goal that made it 2-0 just ten minutes later…

That’s now Ekitike’s fifth goal in his last three Premier League games, and it takes his tally up to 12 for the season in all competitions.
The 23-year-old may now have to fill in for Isak for some time, though we’ll no doubt hear more detail later about precisely how bad that injury is.
Tottenham have been down to ten men for much of this game due to Xavi Simons’ red card for a late and reckless challenge on Virgil van Dijk.
