Confirmed Man United team news vs Aston Villa: Six senior stars ruled out due to injuries, AFCON and suspension
Manchester United head to Villa Park on Sunday knowing they face one of their sternest Premier League tests of the season.
United manager Ruben Amorim has delivered the team news ahead of the crucial fixture.
He said at the pre-match press conference: “I think everyone is well.
“We have one more training [session] but, today, the rest of the lads are ready to go. I’m saying that nobody will recover, nobody is out.
“Just the guys that you already know.”
The club’s official website have confirmed that Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire remain on the treatment table and will miss the clash.
Harry Maguire last featured in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils do not want to take risks with him, considering how injuries have hampered his availability over the last two seasons.
Matthijs de Ligt has sustained a back injury and it is still unclear when he will return.
Benjamin Sesko made his return against Bournemouth on Monday after spending around a month on the sidelines due to a knee injury.
The Slovenian striker could be eased in once again from the bench as Amorim carefully manages his comeback.
Lisandro Martinez is edging closer to full involvement, having already made four substitute appearances since recovering from a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui will be missing the upcoming games as they participate in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Depending on how far their national sides progress, the trio could be absent for as many as seven crucial fixtures.
Casemiro picked up his seventh yellow card (fifth individual booking) on Monday and will be suspended against the Villans.
History offers United some comfort, with the Red Devils winning four of their last five meetings against Aston Villa.
However, sentiment counts for little at Villa Park right now.
The Midlands outfit have lost just one of their last 32 home games across all competitions.
Unai Emery’s side are flying high in third place and head into Sunday’s clash as deserved favourites.
