£65m Game-changer: Man United have now decided on their priority January signing, fans will be delighted

0 1

Manchester United have taken a bold stance ahead of the winter transfer window, throwing their full weight behind manager Ruben Amorim.

According to The Telegraph, Man United will go all-out to sign Antoine Semenyo in January.

Semenyo has a £65 million release clause in his current contract at Bournemouth that activates from the start of next month.

The Cherries may prefer to sell him in January as the value of that release clause will further decrease in the summer.

Landing the 25-year-old will be far from straightforward, with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool all circling.

A move to City would offer Semenyo a genuine shot at Premier League glory, but uncertainty surrounding Pep Guardiola’s long-term future complicates the picture.

Although Guardiola is contracted until 2027, reports suggest he could walk away as early as next summer.

The Red Devils would be a significantly stronger side with Semenyo in their ranks.

United manager Ruben Amorim described him as a “special player” before the 4-4 draw with Bournemouth.

He then watched from the touchline as Semenyo delivered a perfect audition, opening the scoring for the Cherries.

The Ghana international already has ten goal contributions (seven goals, three assists) in 15 Premier League games this campaign.

Since arriving at Bournemouth in January 2023, he has clocked up over 100 appearances.

Blessed with pace, power and two-footed ability, Semenyo is versatile enough to operate as a number ten or in a wing-back role.

A January move could also prove crucial for Amorim as he looks to offset the absence of key attackers.

Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo are away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
