Match Preview - Queen's Park v Dunfermline Athletic

QUEEN’S PARK broke their home league win duck the last time a team from Fife visited The city Stadium.

By coincidence, that was also the last time a home match was played at the home of the Spiders on the southside after weather-related call-offs against Ross County last month, and Clyde in midweek.

Repairs have been carried out following the wind damage that forced Tuesday night’s match to be cancelled on safety grounds – and Sean Crighton’s side are raring to get back in action in front of the home support once again and channel some of that Rovers win energy.

Repairs have been made after Storm Bram

It’s the last home match before Christmas too and with a special pop-up shop on the concourse, there will be gifts aplenty available.

However on the pitch, the home side will be looking to perform as miserly as Scrooge and give little away to their visitors from the east.

Looking ahead

Sean Crighton’s head coach previews are sponsored by Glasgow Clyde College.

The head coach, and assistant Jim Duffy, are sponsored by PTS Clean this season.

The Season so far...

IN terms of form there’s little to separate these two teams over the last four games. Each has won two and lost two in all competitions – and both were subject to late cancellations of their KDM Evolution Trophy matches this week.

Among those for the Spiders was the first home league win since January – against Dunfermline’s Fife rivals Raith Rovers, and Sean Crighton’s side will be seeking a similar result from their next visitors from the Kingdom this weekend.

Late goals have been the scourge of Queen’s Park’s season with more than a quarter of those conceded coming in the last ten minutes of matches.

Those have proven costly too – to the tune of EIGHT potential points since a late penalty for Raith Rovers on the opening day of the season set the tone to follow.

That said, the Spiders have managed four clean sheets this term too – including against this weekend’s visitors at East End Park back in October.

Milosz Sliwinski was due to start Tuesday night's match with Clyde

It proved to be a good point with Dunfermline continuing to pick up pace in the William Hill Championship by registering four wins and two draws since then, moving the Pars to fifth and the verge of the play-off positions.

Neil Lennon will sit this one out as part of a six-game touchline ban from the Scottish FA disciplinary panel.

Sadly the Dunfermline manager will not be in attendance following the death of his father Gerry. All at Queen’s Park extend our condolences to the Lennon family at this sad time.
