Man Utd give green light to 18yo wonderkid for loan move, set to join French club

Manchester United are set to sanction a temporary departure for one of their exciting youngsters.

According to the reliable insider Sully Talkz, Diego Leon is expected to go on loan to OGC Nice in Ligue 1.

INEOS, the minority stakeholder of United, own French outfit OGC Nice and are looking to use their connections to help Leon develop his game.

Both clubs were blocked from transferring players between each other until September 2025.

The teenage sensation joined United from Cerro Porteno for an initial fee of £3.2 million, potentially rising to £7m with performance-based add-ons.

Leon has yet to make his senior debut for United as he is currently involved with the Under-21s under the guidance of coach Travis Binnion.

Binnion recently described the young left-back as a player with “some real qualities and a solid foundation”.

Leon sent a reminder of his talent when he netted a stunning solo goal in the 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in October.

He picked up the ball inside his own half, glided past five Spurs players, and finished with the composure of a seasoned professional.

The report further reveals that Leon himself has pushed for a loan move in this winter transfer window, with the club agreeing that it would be the best decision to help him accelerate his development.

His relentless mentality and fearlessness on the pitch set him apart from most players his age.

Leon could well be a future first-team star, but his immediate pathway is blocked by Patrick Dorgu and Diogo Dalot.

Dorgu arrived at United in February but has yet to settle into the high demands of the Premier League.

Leon is definitely behind him in the pecking order.

A loan move looks the perfect solution for the 18-year-old, giving him the platform to grow before Ruben Amorim reassesses him in pre-season.
