Brutal attack: Amorim claims one Man United star shines for his country but goes missing at Old Trafford

Manchester United will be desperate to get back to winning ways in the Premier League today as they travel to Selhurst Park to face a stubborn Crystal Palace side.

Ahead of the game, manager Ruben Amorim has raised eyebrows by issuing a clear warning to one of his own signings.

Patrick Dorgu moved to Old Trafford from Serie A club Lecce in January.

The 21-year-old has offered occasional flashes of brilliance, but his decision-making has repeatedly let him down.

Amorim revealed that while Dorgu shines in training and impresses for the Denmark national team, he has struggled to replicate that level in a United shirt.

He said (via ManUtd.com) : “What I feel, when I see them training, they (Dorgu and Diogo Dalot) are doing so much better than in games.

“Then Patrick, when I see him playing for national team, he scored a great goal against Scotland.

“The decision that he made under pressure was completely different than the decision that he is making in our team.”

The Portuguese head coach further admitted that Dorgu must improve his decision-making.

He added: “I think it’s the decision. He needs to be calmer playing the game. You can feel the anxiety every time Patrick touched the ball. I can feel the anxiety.”

Dorgu has made 10 Premier League appearances this season but has managed only one assist from the left wing-back role.

The Dane has shown plenty of energy, making penetrating runs and frequently finding himself in acres of space in the final third.

However, he has consistently let down the manager and the supporters with his final pass and shot.

Being a left wing-back, Dorgu is expected to carry significant attacking responsibility.

His output should ideally mirror that of Amad Diallo, who has fared very well on the opposite side.

The left wing-back spot has been a problematic area.

It seems very likely that the Red Devils will make a move for a top wing-back next summer.

Young star Harry Amass is also expected to earn a permanent promotion next season.

The onus is on Dorgu to make the most of his chances.
