Man Utd Player Ratings: Mount & Zirkzee unlikely heroes but unstoppable 8/10 star was best player vs Palace
Manchester United registered a thrilling 2-1 comeback Premier League victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park today.
United manager Ruben Amorim made two changes to his starting XI that were humbled by Everton last week.
Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot replaced Noussair Mazraoui and Patrick Dorgu.
Palace came flying out of the blocks, overpowering United in every duel and dictating the tempo from the first whistle.
Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring from the penalty spot on the half-hour mark, giving the hosts a deserved lead.
Joshua Zirkzee hauled United back into the contest with a stunning finish from an impossibly tight angle, silencing Selhurst Park.
Mount then completed the turnaround with a cleverly placed low strike, catching Palace napping after a quick-thinking free-kick from Bruno Fernandes.
Player Ratings
Senne Lammens – 5/10
He should have shown more composure, guessing more intelligently on the retake when Mateta stepped up for the penalty.
Leny Yoro – 4/10
Produced a brilliant goal-saving block at 0–0, but undid his good work moments later by giving away a careless penalty.
Matthijs de Ligt – 5/10
Mateta sent him to the shops in their first duel of the match.
The Dutchman slipped several times afterwards, errors that could easily have cost United on another day.
Luke Shaw – 8/10
A brilliant last-ditch block to deny Nketiah before half-time and then continued to dominate defensively. On his 300th appearance, he was comfortably United’s standout player.
Amad Diallo – 5/10
He put in a strong defensive shift, but the extra workload noticeably took away from his attacking influence.
Diogo Dalot – 6/10
He was far more involved down the left flank, contributing well in the build-up to United’s few attacking moments.
Casemiro – 5/10
The veteran nearly opened the scoring inside the first minute, but Henderson denied him from point-blank range.
He then failed to offer the defensive protection United needed from their holding midfielder.
Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
The captain earned an assist with a clever pass to Zirkzee at the near post. He doubled his tally for the day with a smart layoff to Mount from a free-kick.
Bryan Mbeumo – 5/10
Picked up a needless booking for dissent over a throw-in and was far from his attacking best.
Mason Mount – 7/10
Mount was anonymous for large stretches of the match, but he came alive when it mattered, guiding a low strike into the bottom-left corner.
Joshua Zirkzee – 7/10
The Dutch international showed superb technique, chesting the ball down before firing home from an almost impossible angle.
His first goal in almost an year.
