Mike Vrabel Discusses Importance Of Hunter Henry’s TD Vs. Bengals

The New England Patriots picked up a 26-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12, and one of the stars of the game was tight end Hunter Henry. In fact, if you ask head coach Mike Vrabel, he thinks the veteran pass catcher was responsible for helping get the offense on track.

While the Pats won this game, things weren’t looking good for them early on. Drake Maye was struggling with his accuracy, and he threw a pick-six to Geno Stone that quickly put the team in a 10-0 deficit.

After that costly play, Maye found his footing, thanks in large part to his ability to link up with Henry down the field. The pair capped off the ensuing drive after the interception with a 28-yard touchdown pass, and it wasn’t lost on Vrabel just how important this play was.

“We’re on life support here, we’re down 10-0,” Vrabel said on “Patriots All Access.” “(Henry’s) been real reliable for us … That got us going.”

Henry had a monster outing for New England, as he caught seven passes for 115 yards and the aforementioned score. His ability to create separation and link up with Maye helped get the offense going, and while that ended up being the unit’s only touchdown of the day, they managed to do enough to help the team walk away with a win.

While he may not post those sorts of gaudy numbers every week, Henry is going to remain a key piece of the Patriots’ offense for the remainder of the season. The team will look to push its ongoing win streak to 10 games when it takes on the New York Giants in Week 13.
