New Tarik Skubal Prediction Once Again Links Ace To This NL Club

The Tarik Skubal trade buzz is never-ending. While there is an overwhelming wealth of evidence supporting the notion that the Detroit Tigers should do all they can to hold onto Skubal (for as long as possible), fans keep dreaming that Skubal can and will land into their squad’s rotation before the 2026 season.

The New York Mets are a team that has repeatedly linked to Skubal in this regard, and on Tuesday, MLB Network’s Anthony Castrovince fanned the flames of that rumor.

“I do not want to see the Tigers trade Tarik Skubal,” Castrovince said. “I doubt Tigers fans want to see (it either) … and yet I feel like there’s a really good chance it happens.”

“And if it happens, the (New York) Mets are an ideal fit,” Castrovince continued. “You know, both from having the upper-level talent — particularly pitching talent — that you could parlay in a move for Skubal … (and) having the ability to extend him beyond 2026. You know, it’s all there.”

When pressed by Harold Reynolds about how exactly the Mets could entice the Tigers in a trade for Skubal, Castrovince suggested that New York could put their No. 1 overall prospect, Nolan McLean, into the discussion.

Reynolds rebuffed the notion that the Mets would be willing to include McLean.

Castrovince also listed the Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Seattle Mariners as teams that have the assets for a potential Skubal deal, although he asserted that it was unlikely to happen in any of those cases.
