Giants Coach Provides Jaxson Dart Injury Update Before ‘Monday Night Football’ Vs. Patriots
For the third straight time, the New England Patriots are less than one week ahead of a game and still don’t know who their next opponent’s starting quarterback will be.
Justin Fields (temporarily) hung onto his starting job for the Patriots-New York Jets “Thursday Night Football” game in Week 11 and Joe Flacco remained QB1 for the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12 while Joe Burrow was sidelined.
Now, New England is waiting to see if they’ll be facing rookie Jaxson Dart or veteran journeyman Jameis Winston in Week 13 vs. the New York Giants on “Monday Night Football.”
“Jaxson Dart will be a full participant in practice today, Mike Kafka says. The coach won’t commit to the #Giants rookie QB’s status for Monday either way yet,” Giants beat writer Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News posted on X.
The 25th overall pick has missed the last two games as he works his way through the league’s concussion protocol.
ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan added that it “sounds as if” Dart and Winston would split first-team reps on Wednesday.
The rookie has recorded a 62.7% completion percentage with 1,417 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions this season, while adding 57 carries for 317 rushing yards and seven scores on the ground across nine games (seven starts).
Winston has started the last two games for Big Blue, going 37-for-65 with 567 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
