Why Colin Cowherd Is Against NFL Teams Hiring Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick is currently in his inaugural season as the head coach of North Carolina, but there’s a possibility he might make a return to the NFL in the future.

NFL insider Josina Anderson reported on X this Tuesday that several NFL teams are expressing interest in bringing Belichick on board.

“I’m told at least two NFL teams are still expected to have interest in talking to Bill Belichick, behind-the-scenes at the very least, about head coach jobs this Carousel season, per a league source,” Anderson wrote.

“A third team could also enter the mix,” with desires to talk, particularly if one specific personnel change is made under ownership, the source added.”

Although a few NFL teams might show some interest in talking to Belichick, Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd argues against teams hiring him.

“Go look at his Carolina staff,” Cowherd said on Wednesday. “Friends and family. Go look at his last New England staff: retreads. I would not hire Belichick.”

Hiring Belichick would be a challenging task for any team, especially considering he will turn 74 in April. He will likely want full control over the roster, as he did with the New England Patriots.

Belichick likely won’t coach in the NFL again unless something drastic changes in the next few years.
