Champions League: Atletico Madrid vs. Inter – Probable line-ups and where to watch on TV
Inter are expected to turn to Lautaro Martinez and Francesco Pio Esposito to lead the line as they look to maintain their perfect Champions League record away against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Nerazzurri have won all of their first four Champions League matches of the season, which had them level on points with Bayern Munich and Arsenal at the top of the standings at the start of this round of fixtures.
Cristian Chivu’s side are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 1-0 loss against city rivals Milan in the Derby della Madonnina over the weekend.
There could be a handful of alterations to the Inter line-up following the derby against Milan, with the likes of Stefan De Vrij, Luis Henrique and Piotr Zielinski potentially in line for opportunities against Atletico according to the pre-match reports.
Chivu is still expected to keep his trusted core, with Alessandro Bastoni, Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez all in line to start. Sky Sport Italia predicts that Esposito will partner Lautaro at centre-forward.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Denzel Dumfries and back-up goalkeeper Raffaele Di Gennaro are Inter’s only injury absentees.
There could be some familiar names and faces to Serie A fans among the Atletico line-up. Pre-match reports indicate that former Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso could start, as could his former Dea teammate Matteo Ruggeri at left-back.
Italy international Giacomo Raspadori is likely to start among the substitutes, but former Fiorentina and Juventus winger Nico Gonzalez could start out wide for Diego Simeone.
Kick-off is due at 20.00 GMT (21.00 CET).
