Marco Sturm Explains Why Bruins Loss To Sharks Was ‘Unfortunate’
The Boston Bruins ended their California road trip with a 3-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Sunday.
Boston was coming off a 2-1 overtime win over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday, but on Sunday, the Bruins’ offense struggled. Boston also took six penalties, as the Sharks went 1-for-6 on the power play.
Following the loss, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm said it was unfortunate as he felt that was a winnable game.
”We have to find a way,” Sturm said on Saturday, as seen on NESN’s postgame show. “(Six) penalties a night, it is going to be a hard season. Players are too good, too skilled to be on the power play.
“The guys that played, they tried everything they possibly (could), we just found ourselves down a couple goals against a hot goalie, too. Probably didn’t do a good enough job in front of him. It was just unfortunate to leave points here.”
San Jose got out to a 2-0 lead before Morgan Geekie scored his 17th goal of the season, which is tied for the NHL lead. However, the Sharks added an empty netter to secure the 3-1 home win.
Boston went 1-1-1 in their three-game California road trip. The road trip ends on Wednesday when the Bruins take on the New York Islanders.
The Bruins are 13-11-0 and are holding onto a Wild Card spot.
