Patriots Get Discouraging Jared Wilson Injury Update After Win
The New England Patriots defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 26-20 on Sunday, but suffered some key losses during the game. Among the injured players was starting left guard Jared Wilson.
Wilson was injured on the first drive of the game on a third-down play. He walked off the field, but went into the blue medical tent. Later, he was taken off the field on a cart with what was announced as an ankle injury. After the game, he was seen in a walking boot and a crutch, according to Patriots insider Doug Kyed.
Wilson was not the only starting lineman to exit the game on a cart. Starting left tackle Will Campbell was also carted off the field in the third quarter. Head coach Mike Vrabel did not provide any injury updates after the game, but both are key members for the Patriots.
When Wilson went down, the Patriots turned to Ben Brown. Brown was an undrafted free agent who joined the Patriots last season. He started in Week 4 when Wilson was injured.
It is unclear what Wilson’s timeline will be, but Brown may be leaned on heavily moving forward. Wilson being in a boot is not an encouraging sign, but it could also be precautionary to simply keep any weight off his ankle.
Campbell’s injury further complicates things for the offensive line. He was carted off the field and had a towel draped over his head. He was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and had started every game for the Patriots this season.
The Patriots had started the same offensive line in 10 of their 11 games this season. Their next game is against the New York Giants on Dec. 1.
