Amorim reveals why one Man United star has already transformed the team, set to start vs Everton

0 14

Manchester United are unbeaten in the last five games and will look to extend their streak when they face Everton on Monday.

The Red Devils will host the Toffees at Old Trafford as they aim to bolster their charge for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Speaking ahead of the game, United head coach Ruben Amorim praised goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

Lammens made his debut for United in the 2-0 win over Sunderland and has yet to lose a game at his new club.

Amorim admitted that the 23-year-old has brought “calmness” to the defence.

He said (via Sky Sports): “He is still really shy, but really composed. He is the same inside the pitch, really calm, always in control and a really nice guy but not shy there.

“We play our best games with Senne. very different in these last 5 games. Senne helped us a lot with that confidence and brought calmness to the team.”

Lammens set to start vs Everton

Lammens moved to the Theatre of Dreams from Royal Antwerp for a fee of £18.1 million this summer.

Amorim backed Altay Bayindir with the gloves but the Turkey international failed to impress.

His ball distribution was slick but his shot-saving skills let the club down.

The manager finally unleashed Lammens against the Black Cats, and he repaid the faith by picking up the club’s first clean sheet of the campaign.

Calmness is exactly what he has brought to the side.

United looked highly vulnerable during corner set-pieces with Andre Onana and Bayindir in goal.

However, Lammens has shown authority and won over the supporters with his high ball claims.

His exciting start at the club also drew praise from United icon Sir Alex Ferguson.

The shot-stopper is expected to retain his starting spot in the starting XI when Everton travel to Manchester.

Lammens’ introduction at Old Trafford has gone hand in-hand with a key change in the style of play.

Rather than playing out from the back, the Belgian has launched passes forward.

He also enjoyed a memorable moment recently when he made his debut for Belgium in their 7-0 win over Liechtenstein.

Amorim will be hoping that Lammens continues his rich form and pick up his second clean sheet of the campaign tomorrow.
