Morgan Geekie Plays Hero Again For Bruins In Massive Road Win
The Boston Bruins picked up a massive 2-1 road win over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.
Boston entered on a two-game losing streak and in the midst of a four-game road trip. The game was tense as Morgan Geekie broke the tie eight minutes into the third period, before the Kings tied it five minutes later.
In overtime, it was Geekie again who scored his 16th of the season to give the Bruins a big road win.
“Just kind of trusting myself a little more in those situations,” Geekie said on Friday, as seen on NESN’s postgame show. “I mean, I don’t know if last year, at this time, I would have taken that shot in overtime, just the situation and where I was.
“But it’s easy to build confidence when you have confidence, so I think over the last year it’s slowly been building.”
Geekie is now tied with Nathan MacKinnon for the most goals on the Bruins, and head coach Marco Sturm isn’t surprised by the success he’s having.
“He worked even more this summer on his shot and on his release,” Sturm said. “Everything pays off, so it’s nice to see that hard work gets rewarded.”
With the win, the Bruins improved to 13-10-0 and are now in first place in the Atlantic Division.
Boston will return to the ice on the road on Sunday against the San Jose Sharks at 8 p.m. ET.
