Weekend preview: Bassett seek Cribbs double in another crucial contest

Satuday sees Royal Wootton Bassett Town go in search of a season double over Cribbs - and a vital victory in their fight to extricate themselves from the Hellenic League Premier Division danger zone (3pm kick off). This is the second consecutive six-pointer for Jonny Aitkenhead's side after last Saturday's trip to Hallen. And Bassett will be looking for a reaction and much different outcome after the defeat a week ago. Bassett came from behind to triumph 3-1 at home against Cribbs in September - their last league win. And now they aim to repeat that outcome and close the gap to a side who also find themselves at the wrong end of the table. Also this weekend there is a home doubleheader involving the Women's First Team and Men's Development side. On Sunday Bassett host early season strugglers Paulton Rovers in the South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, 2pm). James Lally's team will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start against a Paulton side who are yet to record a league win. Bassett recorded a 2-0 victory against Paulton when the teams met in Wiltshire last season. Prior to that the Development team host Purton Kingsdown in their second home derby in a row with Mark Simpkins' side aiming to extend their lead over their rivals in the Wiltshire League Premier Division table (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground AGP, 2pm kick off). Admission for both games is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members. - Royal Wootton Bassett Town Men's and Women's First Team are proudly sponsored by Imagine Cruising.
