Official: Injured Inter star Calhanoglu to miss Spain vs. Turkey
The Turkish Football Federation confirms that Inter star Hakan Calhanoglu will miss Tuesday’s game against Spain due to a wrist injury.
Inter star Calhanoglu won’t be available for Turkey’s World Cup qualifying game against Spain on Tuesday.
Official: Why Calhanoglu will miss Spain vs. Turkey
The Turkish FA said on Sunday (via FCInter1908) that Calhanoglu “has been left out of the squad due to a right wrist injury sustained last night in the match against Bulgaria.”
The Nerazzurri star scored the opening goal from the spot in a 2-0 victory last night.
Turkey sit second in Group E, three points below Spain but with a lower goal difference (+19 to +5).
Calhanoglu will return to his club Inter to begin treatment ahead of Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina against Milan.
Calhanoglu is Serie A’s top goal scorer
Calhanoglu is the current Serie A leading scorer, alongside Bologna winger Riccardo Orsolini, with five goals.
Calhanoglu, 31, has collected six goals and three assists in 13 games across all competitions at a club level in 2025-26.
The 31-year-old is the Turkey national team captain. He made his international debut under Faith Terim in June 2013 and has 22 goals in 102 international matches.
His contract with Inter expires in June 2027.
