Hampus Lindholm Explains Why Bruins Loss To Senators Is ‘Frustrating’
The Boston Bruins had their seven-game winning streak snapped on Thursday in a 5-3 road loss to the Ottawa Senators.
Boston trailed 3-1 early in the third period before rallying to tie it 3-3. However, the Senators took a 4-3 lead with less than six minutes to go before adding an empty netter to get the win.
Following the loss, Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm explained why the defeat was frustrating.
“The last goal, the team needed to do a better job, myself there, too,” Lindholm said on Thursday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. Try and make a smart play. The whole game tonight I think we had a lot of fight back. The goals they got were a lot on ourselves.
“So, at least we can tighten that up. I think we’re playing some good hockey right now. I try not to get too low after a game like this, but it’s frustrating. It’s a game we should’ve won or at least had a point. Just have to learn from it.”
Lindholm believes the Bruins made too many mistakes early on to deserve the win.
“We talked about it before,” Lindholm added. “We knew they were coming out (hard). Obviosuly not ideal to start killing right away. They are good on the power play and get some momentum there. We have to play a little smarter.”
The Bruins’ star defenseman is hopeful that Boston learns from this game and comes out better in its next game.
Boston will return to the ice on Saturday on the road against the Montreal Canadiens.
