Chaim Bloom Drops Truth Bomb On Red Sox’s Successful 2025 Campaign
The Boston Red Sox are staring down the barrel at a very important offseason after finding their way into the playoffs last year. One guy who will be keeping close tabs on the team from afar is St. Louis Cardinals president of baseball operations, Chaim Bloom.
Before latching on with the Cardinals, Bloom was Boston’s chief baseball officer from 2020 to 2023. While Bloom helped build the Red Sox’s farm system back up, he is widely blamed for breaking up the franchise’s 2018 World Series team.
Bloom isn’t exactly a popular figure in Boston, but the team began to reap the benefits of his work in 2025. Speaking to Chris Cotillo of MassLive, Bloom revealed he holds no ill will towards the Red Sox, saying that he is proud of what the team managed to accomplish last season.
“It’s cool to see them, in a lot of cases, start turning into — and in other cases, continuing to be — the players we thought they could be,” Bloom said. “Even in just four years in that organization, I developed a lot of really strong relationships and friends for life. Some people that I care about that I was really happy to see enjoy pieces of that success.
I’m proud of a lot of the things we did in Boston. It has been exciting from afar to see that work come to fruition. Bigger things continue to be ahead for that franchise.”
A large crop of the group of prospects that found their way to the majors was brought to town under Bloom’s regime. While he struggled to build a successful major league roster, Bloom may end up playing an overlooked role in the construction of Boston’s next great team.
What the future holds for the Sox will ultimately depend on what the team is able to accomplish this offseason. And while Bloom will have his hands full with the Cardinals, you can bet he will be keeping tabs on his former team, too.
