QUEEN’S PARK FC can provide the following update on mens’ first-team defender Charlie Fox after he was stretchered off and substituted in the first half of our William Hill Championship match against Partick Thistle on Saturday.
Since being taken to hospital and discharged on Sunday, Charlie has been recovering at home with full support of the club and his team-mates. The club will now await results of MRI scans assessing the extent of his injury.
Head coach Sean Crighton said: “We were, and continue to be, devastated for Charlie. He is our vice-captain, a huge presence in the dressing room and on the pitch and an immensely popular figure at the club.
“I have been to visit him at home, as have the coaching staff and players, and we hope to see him back around the club and training base sooner rather than later.
“Due to the swelling around the affected area we are still waiting on scan results before we decide on the next steps in his treatment.”
All at Queen’s Park pass our best wishes to Charlie and appreciate the kind messages received from supporters across Scottish football.
The club would again like to place on record our thanks to Partick Thistle for their care and support to Charlie and our staff on Saturday evening.
Queen’s Park FC also notes the debate raised in the Scottish Parliament and comments of the Health Secretary on Tuesday.
The club will make no further comment at this time, with full focus on supporting Charlie through the next stages of his recovery and Saturday’s game with Raith Rovers.
