Jakobi Meyers Reportedly Targeted By These Teams Before Trade To Jaguars
The Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars provided us with another notable pre-trade deadline deal on Tuesday.
Jakobi Meyers was traded from the former to the latter, with his new team pushing the deal across the finish line by giving up fourth- and sixth-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini provided the juicier details, however.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills reportedly inquired about Meyers, who requested the trade this past offseason after being denied a contract extension despite leading the organization in receptions (191), receiving yards (2,186) and receiving touchdowns (12) since joining in 2023.
Jacksonville’s push for help at the position comes after it placed rookie Travis Hunter on injured reserve and are expected to be without Brian Thomas Jr.
Pittsburgh has seemingly been in need of help at the position for half a decade, with offseason addition DK Metcalf essentially outpacing his fellow wide receivers in receptions (29 to 31), receiving yards (467 to 381) and receiving touchdowns (5 to 4). Buffalo remains keen on adding another reliable weapon, with tight end Dalton Kincaid currently leading the team in receiving yards (411)
The Jaguars were willing to part with two selections, though, which appears to have been the difference. The Bills and Steelers might just have their eyes on something bigger, though.
