Bill O’Brien Explodes At Reporter After Question About BC Football’s Struggles
The 2025 campaign has not gone the way the Boston College Eagles football team was hoping for. On Tuesday, head coach Bill O’Brien ended up taking out some of his frustrations on a reporter during his media availability.
In his second year in charge of the Eagles, things have gone south for O’Brien. Boston College has just a 1-8 record to this point, and considering how all eight of those losses have come in a row, it doesn’t seem like things are on the verge of getting better.
Questions about O’Brien’s ability to lead the program have begun to arise, even though this only year No. 2 for him with the team. When asked about the Eagles’ struggles, O’Brien unloaded on a reporter for the team, criticizing him for always asking “down” questions.
“I’m glad you’re down. I’m not down, nobody’s down,” O’Brien said on Tuesday. “We’re fighting, we’re competing. It’s the second year of this program. You always come in here with these down questions … I’m not down.”
Things may not be going BC’s way, but O’Brien isn’t going to let the team give up on the season just yet. His squad is going to have to see some better results, though, if he wants questions like this to go away.
After suffering a 25-10 loss to the No. 10-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish last weekend, Boston College will be back in action against the SMU Mustangs for its next game. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
