Drake Maye Surpasses Impressive Patrick Mahomes Streak In Week 9

The New England Patriots squeaked past the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 to pick up their sixth-straight win. It wasn’t his best outing of the season, but second-year quarterback Drake Maye once managed to do enough to lead his team to victory.

Maye completed 19 of his 29 pass attempts against the Falcons for 259 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 20 yards on eight carries. He lost a costly fumble and threw an interception, though, which led to him struggling quite a bit down the stretch of this one.

When all was said and done, though, it was another strong outing for Maye. In the process, he managed to surpass an impressive streak set by superstar Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes that will surely catch the attention of fans.

“Drake Maye passes Patrick Mahomes for the longest streak of games with 200+ pass yards and a 100+ passer rating by a player under the age of 24 all-time (8),” NFL+ shared in a post on X.

Even with his aforementioned struggles, though, Maye helped the Patriots build up a strong lead in the first half that the defense was able to protect in the second half. It got a little dicey at times, but winning in the NFL is so difficult that it’s tough to complain about a team coming out on top in a hard-fought game.

With this win, New England pushed its record to 7-2, which is tied with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos for the best mark in the league. The Patriots will now turn their attention to Week 10, where a tough matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers awaits.
