Martusciello reunited with Spalletti and Juventus after near miss
Giovanni Martusciello arrived at the Juventus training camp today, having accepted a return to the Old Lady and narrowly missed out on joining Luciano Spalletti at Napoli.
The new coach put pen to paper today on a contract to June 30, 2026, with an option to extend for a further year if he manages to qualify the team for the Champions League.
He is also putting together his staff and Martusciello drove up to the Continassa gates this afternoon, having been called yesterday by Daniele Baldini to propose the job.
Spalletti wants familiar faces in Juventus staff
Martusciello is from Ischia, but certainly no stranger to the atmosphere in Turin, as he was already on the Juventus staff in 2019-20 as assistant manager to Maurizio Sarri when winning the Scudetto.
However, his rapport with Spalletti goes back even further to their time working together at Empoli and then Inter, which is why the ex-Italy boss had called Martusciello to join him at Napoli in 2021.
At that time, Martusciello preferred to stick with Sarri and come to Lazio, but the relationship remained at a distance, and now he can reunite with Spalletti.
Martusciello also had a brief spell as head coach of Salernitana in 2024, overseeing 15 games in Serie B.
