Thomas Frank provides positive injury news on Tottenham defender after Archie Gray blow
One Tottenham man, who has been out with a long-term injury, is now nearing a return to the side, according to Thomas Frank.
For the third season in a row, Tottenham find themselves drifting towards a massive injury crisis.
Nine first-team players missed Spurs’ clash against Everton on Sunday, and Archie Gray has now joined the group on the treatment table.
However, Spurs are not long away from being boosted by the return of a player who has been out of action since the start of the year.
Thomas Frank reveals when Radu Dragusin could be back for Tottenham
Radu Dragusin has been ahead of schedule in his recovery from the ACL injury, with the former Genoa man having trained with the Tottenham squad over recent weeks.
Dragusin’s agent has indicated that his client will be back on the pitch at the start of November, and Thomas Frank has now confirmed that the Romanian is now back in full training.
Frank said about the centre-back (via Hayters): “He’s fully integrated in training now. Coming back will take time because the ACL is such a big injury, because you’re out for nine months, so you need to build strength in the knee and need to have the same strength in the other knee and so on, so on.
When asked about whether Dragusin could be involved for Tottenham after the next international break, Frank said: “That could be likely. He is definitely getting closer to being involved. I think we plan to play him in a friendly, as I understand it, so that’s a big part of it.”
Frank reacts to the possibility of Romania calling up Dragusin
According to reports, Romania wanted to call up the Spurs defender for the October international break, but Tottenham’s medical team intervened as they did not want the 23-year-old rushed back into action.
In the end, Dragusin joined up with his national team’s training camp to support his teammates even though he was not included in the squad.
When asked about the risk of the 23-year-old being rushed back into international football, Frank responded: “Of course, I haven’t spoken to him about it, but that doesn’t make sense to me.”
