Midweek preview: Bassett set for Premier Shield derby

Royal Wootton Bassett Town play the first of consecutive cup derbies on Wednesday when near neighbours Highworth Town visit the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground in the Wiltshire Premier Shield first round (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, 7.45pm kick off). It promises to be an exciting clash on Wednesday between sides who will be aiming for some cup cheer after experiencing difficult starts to their Hellenic League Premier Division campaigns. The teams met as recently as two seasons ago in the Premier Shield at the quarter final stage - a game which Highworth hosted, with Bassett triumphing on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Highworth got the better of the one league meeting between the sides played so far this season, winning 1-0 in a game in which Bassett had the better of the chances. Wednesday is therefore an opportunity to avenge that loss - and advance to the quarter final stage of the Premier Shield. Admission is £8 for adults and £5 for concessions (including RWBTFC youth members). A collection will be held at the fixture with donations going towards Mark Ellis' October Walking Challenge for Cure Parkinson's - Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Men's First Team are proudly sponsored by Imagine Cruising.
