Sky Sports pundit blown away by sensational Man United duo after Brighton win

0 3

Manchester United moved up to fourth in the Premier League table with a 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Matheus Cunha and Casemiro struck in the first half to set the tone, before Bryan Mbeumo added a third just after the hour mark.

Brighton showed great fight, pulling two goals back through Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas to set up a nervy finish.

United held their nerve, with Mbeumo scoring his second goal of the evening to seal a crucial home victory.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was full of praise for two Man United stars after the game.

He said: “With Cunha and Mbeumo, the risk of those signings was removed because in the sense they had played in the Premier League before and they had the hunger to deliver at a different level.

“Mbeumo looks like he belongs. He looks hungry and that he wants to score goals.

“Cunha and Mbeumo will win a lot of matches for Manchester United.”

Cunha finally added his name to the scoresheet in a United shirt.

It was another display full of courage and flair, something this United squad was lacking.

The Brazilian took a touch of the ball to set himself up after receiving a clever pass from Casemiro.

He fired a curling right-footed effort from outside the box to open the scoring in the 24th minute.

Cunha won the hearts of United supporters with his battling display against Liverpool last weekend.

Mbeumo has enjoyed a fantastic start to life in Manchester, and his two goals today take his tally to five for the campaign.

The 26-year-old showcased marvellous footwork and has been a menace down the right flank.

United invested heavily in the duo this summer and are already reaping the rewards.

The club hierarchy certainly deserves praise for its smart recruitment.
