Report: Slough Town 1-4 Stones

Maidstone United enjoyed a comfortable win over Slough Town as they made it three league victories in a row.

After Tuesday night’s win over Eastbourne, George Elokobi named an unchanged line up. The Stones looked confident from the outset and they took control of the game with two goals inside three minutes.

The first came with 21 minutes played. Antony Papadopoulos put a delightful ball forward into space for Jephte Tanga who whipped in an inviting low cross that John Gilbert sent into the net.

Then Papadopoulos got into a good position on the right. He put a dangerous ball into the six yard box which Deon Moore held up and Gilbert arrived to lash in.

Maidstone might have had a third shortly after this. A long ball over the top was well controlled by Deon Moore and with Adam Desbois drawn for his line, Moore lifted the ball over the bar.

Slough made two substitutions at half time and Maidstone changed Lexus Beeden for Leo Hamblin, who had been booked. Within seven minutes of the restart, the Rebels were back in the game. David Sesay was booked as Wiktor Makowski went down on the edge of the box. Scott Davies curled the resultant free-kick over the wall and in off the inside of the left post.

Jared Meyers surged forward and hit a shot straight at Nathan Harness which the Maidstone keeper spilled. However, the offside flag was up as the home side tried to get to the rebound.

Then on 59 minutes, the Stones got their third. Once again, Tanga put a decent delivery into the box and Papadopoulos arrived to lash an emphatic finish into the net.

Seven minutes from time, Tanga was rewarded for an excellent performance. Slough got into a mess at the back as substitute Dajon Golding intercepted a back pass and he had time to pick out Tanga who fired past Desbois.
