Douglas Luiz’s Forest MOTM win sparks mixed reactions among Juventus fans
Juventus loanee Douglas Luiz was the MOTM in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 win over Porto on Thursday, sparking mixed social media reactions from Bianconeri supporters.
Douglas Luiz joined Forest on loan with an option to buy last summer after a disappointing debut season at the Allianz Stadium.
The Brazilian midfielder struggled with injuries in Turin in 2024-25 and didn’t score or assist in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Fans’ reactions to Douglas Luiz’s MOTM performance
This past Thursday, he claimed the MOTM Award in Forest’s 2-0 win over Porto in the Europa League, and his performance sparked mixed reactions among Juventus fans on social media.
On the one side, a group of Juventus supporters argued that the Old Lady didn’t give enough time to Douglas Luiz and wrongly opted to stick with other central midfielders such as Manuel Locatelli or Teun Koopmeiners.
On the other side of the coin, other supporters insisted that the Brazilian had joined Juventus at the wrong time and didn’t do enough to prove he was good enough for the Old Lady.
Douglas Luiz even pushed to leave Juventus by missing the first few days of the pre-season without the club’s consent in July.
In between, Nottingham Forest fans were delighted with the performance and hoped the club would make Douglas Luiz’s move permanent in the coming months.
What Nottingham Forest need to sign Douglas Luiz permanently
As previously reported by Italian media, Douglas Luiz will need to make 15 appearances with Nottingham Forest, playing at least 45 minutes in each, to complete a permanent transfer to the English club.
The Brazilian has made five appearances across all competitions this season, including two starts in the Premier League.
Below are the X reactions to his MOTM performance in Nottingham Forest-Porto.
Happy for him, happier for us. Get those appearances, get the money, move on. Good player, joined Juve at the wrong time, with the wrong coach(s). No point dwelling on it. https://t.co/9qMir1MiA6

Still a mystery for me why #DouglasLuis never shined and had a poor season at #Juventus https://t.co/6ylqrzrswg

This bloke is the most technically gifted player we have ever had .
His vision and quick control are off the scale.
At the moment, the team isn’t fully on his wavelength, but given time and fitness he will be the glue that holds the team together.

Douglas, Savona and Neco Williams were the standout performers for Nottingham Forest vs Porto https://t.co/oqd9g3TtER

Like I said we will regret selling him and Mbangula.
He deserved another chance and Mbangula could have been a prefect Yildiz substitute. https://t.co/rQzRCdcqOB

Kean, Chiesa, Bentancur, Kulu, Dragusin, Savona, Kaio, Soule, Costa, Barrenechea, Huijsen
We had the vision, not the system, management and execution.
Now we have no vision also.
