Tottenham target dropped a solid 7.2/10 while Spurs scouts watched in person
One of Tottenham Hotspur’s top transfer targets put on quite the display when Spurs came to town in the UEFA Champions League.
It was reported ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with AS Monaco in the UEFA Champions League that the Lilywhites were set to scout Maghnes Akliouche in person.
The Monaco wide man was on the radar of Spurs during the summer window, but a move for him did not materialise despite Tottenham’s interest.
Akliouche, however, gave Spurs a show when Thomas Frank’s men visited the Stade Louis II during the midweek encounter.

The 23-year-old Frenchman played through the centre in that number ten role and was one of the standout performers for Monaco, having caused Tottenham plenty of problems on the night.
Akliouche was handed a 7.2/10 rating by FotMob for his impressive display in the Champions League against one of his suitors. The number ten was central to most of Sebastien Pocognoli’s side’s play, and the numbers back it up.
Akliouche completed the most dribbles (4), had six shots, and recorded a pass accuracy of 82%, completing 31 out of 38 passes.
He created one chance, took two shots from inside the box, which were on target, and registered 62 touches, nine of which came inside the opposition box.
He also made ten passes into the final third and won seven of his twelve ground duels, giving him a 58% success rate.
It was certainly a performance that Tottenham’s scouts would have taken note of, particularly on a night when Spurs’ own number tens struggled to make an impression.

In contrast to Akliouche’s 7.2 rating, Lucas Bergvall, who started in the number ten position for Tottenham, was rated the worst player on the pitch, with FotMob handing him a 5.9 rating.
The Swede endured one of his poorest outings in a Tottenham shirt as he failed to impact either box in what was a game where he looked completely off it, while his opposite number shone.
Interestingly, Akliouche has not ruled out a move to the Premier League someday, leaving the door open, which could serve as a boost to Tottenham’s hopes.
Speaking on the links to England, Akliouche said: “It was very flattering to have these kinds of stories and links, but I am a Monaco player and I am playing against Tottenham tomorrow, so I will give my best.
“In terms of whether I want to play in the Premier League in the future? Why not, but we will see. What is important for me is tomorrow’s game. I am not focused at all on other links and pressure.”
