Interesting Pochettino stat shows why Tottenham should be patient with Thomas Frank
Matt Law has now shared some very interesting numbers, which show that some Tottenham fans are being too hasty in writing off Thomas Frank already.
The new Tottenham boss is quickly finding out how the pressures associated with the Lilywhites’ hotseat are very different to the ones he had at Brentford.
Frank has been blasted for his selection decisions by many Tottenham fans following the club’s 0-0 draw at Monaco on Wednesday.
Many Spurs fans are accusing the Dane of being too conservative in his midfield selection, with the 52-year-old continuing to persist with a double pivot of Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha in front of the back four.
Thomas Frank’s Tottenham record is similar to Pochettino’s
In his first press conference at Spurs in the summer, Frank declared that he wanted Tottenham to be competitive in all four competitions, citing that the club had not done that since 2019.
The man in charge then was fan favourite, Mauricio Pochettino, under whom the North Londoners came very close to winning the Premier League and the Champions League.
However, the Argentine did not have a great start to his time at N17 either. In fact, Matt Law has now pointed out that Pochettino’s record in his first 13 games in charge is almost identical to Frank’s.
Many Spurs fans are ignoring the major setback Frank is dealing with
It is worth noting that Tottenham were without more than 10 first-team players for the clash at Monaco, with Frank having to deal with a sizable injury list.
The absentees are not being noticed as the Dane is not using that as an excuse, and the Spurs squad is deeper than it was last season.
However, the likes of Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero are all very important players for the Lilywhites, and there is no doubt that we will see an improvement in performances when some of them return to action.
