Thomas Frank reveals how close Randal Kolo Muani is to starting Tottenham games
Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has offered a positive update on Randal Kolo Muani’s fitness, as the French forward edges closer to his first start for the club following his bright cameo against AS Monaco.
Tottenham Hotspur ended their run without a win before an international break with a narrow 2-1 victory over Leeds United, but they have not managed to build on that result since returning to domestic action.
In their most recent Premier League outing, Spurs suffered a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa, despite taking the lead, as Villa turned the game around and secured yet another win over Tottenham.
That setback was followed by a frustrating draw with AS Monaco in the Champions League, a fixture in which Tottenham looked short of creativity in the final third, struggling to fashion clear openings while Monaco applied consistent pressure throughout the contest.

Sometimes a change in personnel can spark life into a side, and that seemed to be the case when Randal Kolo Muani came off the bench in the stalemate against Monaco.
The Frenchman replaced Richarlison midway through the second half, and shortly after, his deft touch released Pape Matar Sarr, who squared the ball for Brennan Johnson, only for the Welshman’s effort to be blocked by the Monaco defence.
Thomas Frank has now given an update on how close Kolo Muani is to returning to full fitness for Tottenham.
The forward has been sidelined for a month with a dead leg, but his encouraging cameo has led to talk about whether he might soon be ready to start.
Speaking to football.london, Frank explained that the 26-year-old is edging nearer to being fully match fit.
Frank said: “He is definitely getting closer. It is the first time he has had a sustained block of training and minutes. He cannot be bombarding 90 minutes again and again, but he can be used, which is good news.”
Richarlison must respond amid Dominic Solanke injury
Richarlison will need to step up if he intends to keep his place as Tottenham’s first-choice striker, at least until Dominic Solanke returns from injury.
The upcoming Premier League clash with Everton, his former club, could present an ideal opportunity for him to end a barren run of eight games without a goal in all competitions.
However, history is on his side, as underlying statistics show that Richarlison has an impressive record against the Toffees, scoring five goals in seven appearances against them.
