Hamburg director makes ‘impossible’ claim about Luka Vuskovic’s Tottenham future
Tottenham fans will be delighted with what Hamburg sporting director Stefan Kuntz has admitted about Luka Vuskovic’s future.
The stats suggest that Vuskovic has been one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga this season, with the teenager excelling in his first taste of top-level football.
The Spurs youngster won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award for September on his first time of asking, and he appears to be getting better with each outing.
Last week, Vuskovic said that Tottenham have a clear plan for his development, and a Hamburg official has now made an admission about the centre-back’s future.
Could Hamburg re-sign Luka Vuskovic on loan from Tottenham next summer?
The teenager certainly appears to be loving life at HSV. In fact, Vuskovic did not rule out staying at Hamburg beyond this season.
There have also been noises from the Bundesliga club about potentially extending the Tottenham man’s stay, but the club’s sporting director, Stefan Kuntz, has now dismissed that possibility out of hand.
When asked if the defender can stay at the club beyond this season, Kuntz told SportBILD (as relayed by Sport Witness): “No, I think that’s impossible. Because next year, after his time at HSV, he’ll be even more expensive – should he even be sold – than before the current season.”
Spurs not expected to recall Vuskovic
Over recent weeks, there have been rumours that Tottenham could recall the defender from his loan spell to boost their options at centre-back.
However, one German outlet reported two weeks ago that Spurs would have to lose two of their centre-backs to long-term injuries for Vuskovic’s recall clause to become active.
When asked if there is a possibility that the Premier League side can recall the 18-year-old prematurely, Kuntz has now responded: “I generally don’t comment on contract details. But that’s not to be expected (smiles).”
