Bruins Players Call Six-Game Losing Streak ‘Embarrassing’

The Boston Bruins are frustrated after suffering their sixth straight loss.

Boston suffered a 7-5 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. It was a frustrating loss, as Joonas Korpisalo allowed six goals on 29 shots, which he was disappointed about.

“I’m embarrassed,” Korpisalo said, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “We all should be.”

Bruins forward Morgan Geekie, meanwhile, said he’s embarrassed for the fans for the team’s sixth straight loss. Geekie believes Boston has to turn it around quickly.

“It’s just embarrassing, to the fans, to everybody,” Geekie said. “It’s just poor. Everything is poor. … It’s not a teaching thing. It’s not anybody but ourselves. Each guy, myself included, has got to look in the mirror and decide what we want to do and how we want this year to go. I think we’re faced with it pretty quickly and we’ve got to decide what we want to do.”

Bruins head coach Marco Sturm echoed the comments of Korpisalo and Geekie.

“We’re all embarrassed, including me,” Sturm said. “It’s definitely not the way we want to present ourselves, especially at home, too.”

After starting the year 3-0, the Bruins have now lost six games in a row, and Sturm is frustrated with how the team is playing defensively.

“It’s normal when you lose a lot of games in a row that you tighten your sticks and everything,” Sturm said. “That’s just, it happens. But those breakdowns in big moments can’t happen. Or losing battles in our own end. That can’t happen.”

The Bruins return to the ice on Saturday at home against the Colorado Avalanche at 3 p.m. ET.
