Top Four Push: Three changes Amorim should make in Man United XI vs Brighton
Manchester United are riding high on confidence after registering back-to-back wins for the first time under manager Ruben Amorim.
After winning 2-1 against Liverpool at Anfield last Sunday, United must ensure that they make the most of this momentum.
They will next face Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford, where another victory could catapult them into the Premier League top four.
We believe manager Ruben Amorim must make three changes to his XI against the Seagulls.
Patrick Dorgu for Diogo Dalot
Dalot has arguably been the weakest United player in the last two games.
He nearly gifted Liverpool an equaliser with a poor clearance and looked vulnerable when shifted to the right wing-back role against Cody Gakpo.
While his positional sense has improved, United would benefit far more from the attacking dynamism of Patrick Dorgu at home.
Dorgu is in fine form. He scored and struck the post for Denmark in the 6–0 demolition of Belarus, and will be itching to replicate that attacking edge at Old Trafford.
Benjamin Sesko for Mason Mount
Amorim made it clear that he dropped Sesko to the bench against Liverpool due to the presence of towering defenders Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
Jan Paul van Hecke and Lewis Dunk have similar profiles, but one would back Sesko to get the better of them.
The Slovenian striker has scored in each of his last two starts and deserves the chance to continue that hot streak.
Breaking that rhythm now would make little sense, and Amorim should reward him with another start to build confidence and consistency.
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo should support him from the two number 10 spots.
Leny Yoro for Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw endured a tough outing against Manchester City but has since bounced back with solid displays against Sunderland and Liverpool.
He has started all eight games for United this summer and it would be wise to give him a breather, especially when a capable deputy like Leny Yoro is waiting in the wings.
The England international has improved defensively under Amorim but still looks restricted when playing out from the back.
Lisandro Martinez is known for his incisive passing from the back, and the club will be eager to have the Argentine back to full fitness soon.
Yoro is naturally more comfortable on the right side of central defence, but testing him on the left would be a valuable learning curve.
His strength and distribution could offer a different dimension to United’s build-up play.
