Red-Hot Drake Maye Joins 2 NFL Legends On Wildly Exclusive List

Drake Maye struggled in the Patriots’ season-opening loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, but he’s been historically good ever since.

The sophomore quarterback completed 21 of 23 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns in last Sunday’s road win over the Tennessee Titans. In doing so, Maye led New England to its fifth win in six games and continued one of the best stretches for a quarterback in football history.

Per Chad Graff of The Athletic, Maye joined Patrick Mahomes and Dan Marino as the only QBs who posted six straight games with at least 200 passing yards and a plus-100 passer rating while being under 24 years old. So, if you remember how well Mahomes played in his first season as the Kansas City Chiefs’ starting QB, know that Maye performed at roughly the same level the last six weeks.

Advanced analytics also paint an impressive picture of Maye. According to Graff, Maye currently ranks first in EPA per play, first in completion percentage over expected and sixth in success rate.

As for traditional stats, Maye ranks second in completion percentage, second in yards per attempt, second in passer rating, eighth in yards and eighth in touchdowns

Maye will look to deliver a fifth straight win this Sunday when the Patriots host the Cleveland Browns.
