Titans Fan Brings Telling Mike Vrabel Sign To Patriots’ Week 7 Game
Plenty of Tennessee Titans fans wish Mike Vrabel was on their sideline instead of coaching the New England Patriots on Sunday.
Vravel returns to Tennessee, where he spent six seasons as a head coach before getting fired following a 6-11 campaign in 2023. He’s led the Patriots to a 4-2 start entering a Week 7 matchup against the Titans, who fired Vrabel’s replacement earlier this week.
The organization is probably second-guessing its decision, and Titans fans certainly wish the situation had unfolded differently. MassLive’s Mark Daniels shared a photo of a sign spotted at Nissan Stadium.
“Memo from Titans front office: We’re sorry for firing you,” the fan sign reads, “and we deeply regret it.”
The Titans have won four games since firing Vrabel, including one thus far this season. They replaced Brian Callahan with interim head coach Mike McCoy, who’s tasked with spoiling Vrabel’s return to Tennessee.
Meanwhile, the Patriots lead the AFC East and have matched last season’s win total through six games. They’re also 3-0 away from Gillette Stadium entering Sunday’s road game.
Vrabel insisted that revenge wasn’t on his mind when returning to face his former team.
“We’re not trying to win one for the Gipper here,” Vrabel said on Wednesday. “We’re just trying to make sure that these guys are focused on improving, and I think that they are. I think they’re locked in. And hopefully we can get them as prepared as we possibly can between now and Sunday.”
Upon arriving at his old stomping grounds, Vrabel told CBS Sports’ AJ Ross that it “feels backwards” going into the visiting locker room at Nissan Stadium. At least he won’t have to worry about an overly hostile crowd, as reporters noted a heavy contingent of Patriots fans at Nashville.
