NFL Analyst Believes Opponents Are ‘Jealous’ Of Drake Maye
Drake Maye is making a significant impact this season, propelling the New England Patriots to one of the hottest starts in the league.
Many people are highlighting Maye’s impressive growth during his second season. Fox Sports NFL analyst Mark Schlereth praised the young quarterback and openly shared his positive impressions of Maye’s performance in the team’s 25-19 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
“To watch him manipulate the pocket, I thought, was exceptional,” Schlereth told “WEEI Afternoons” on Tuesday. “I kept writing notes after notes. Look at him step up, look at him slide, look at him under duress, he never looks down, never looks at the rush, always keeps his eyes down the field, and then just throwing strikes, I thought he was amazing.”
Maye threw for 261 yards and connected on three touchdowns against New Orleans. Schlereth, a former Broncos player, felt so impressed by Maye’s performance that he now wishes Denver’s young quarterback, Bo Nix, could play like Maye.
“I wish our quarterback here in Denver looked like that right now,” Schlereth added. “I’m sure there are a lot of teams out there saying, ‘I wish our quarterback looked like that right now’. “I love Bo Nix. He’s a really good player, but Drake Maye has played exceptionally well.”
Many analysts considered Nix one of the top quarterbacks from the 2024 draft class after he led the Broncos to the playoffs during his rookie season. However, Maye has taken the reins and surpassed Nix’s performance so far this season.
