Euro club tell reps of Man United star they now want to sign him next summer

0 1

Trabzonspor are keen on signing Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana permanently, according to the Sun.

The Red Devils star is currently on a season-long loan at the Super Lig club after falling out of favour at the Old Trafford club.

Man United signed Senne Lammens on summer transfer deadline day, and the 23-year-old Belgian is expected to remain in goal in the long term after his impressive and solid debut against Sunderland at the weekend.

Onana has all but played his last game for Man United, and while there is no option or obligation to buy in his Trabzonspor loan deal, they want him.

They have told his representatives that they would love to sign him permanently after his impressive performances so far.

The Cameroon international has kept two clean sheets in four games and weighed in with one assist, surprising some of his teammates.

Trabzonspor head coach Fatih Tekke has also been blown away with his leadership qualities and how well he has adapted to his new surroundings.

They are now open to holding talks with Man United over the possibility of making the move permanent when his loan expires.

Trabzonspor have been paying him more than the £120,000-a-week wage he earned at Man United and agreeing personal terms should not be a problem.

Onana joined the Red Devils from Inter Milan in 2023 for £47 million but failed to impress in his first two seasons and lost his starting spot to Altay Bayindir heading into the current campaign.

He is out of contract in 2028 and it remains to be seen whether Trabzonspor will be ready to pay a fee for his services next summer.

Man United are likely to demand a fee from suitors before agreeing to sell Onana as he would have two years left on his deal in 2026.
